DeLiver was an almost too twee but not quite postcard exchange project conceived by author Jennifer Mills and developed by her and I as part of the 2008 regional arts conference ‘Art in the Heart’ in Alice Springs. The project called out to people from all over Australia to make and write postcards and send them to the middle whereupon we displayed them and then returned to different people from the sending group, so that everyone received one back from someone else. It was born of our mutual love of postcards and the postal system. We thought of the postal system as the veins of the nation, and the drunken centre as instead of the heart, the liver, a filtration system for ideas and communication.
